Important Information about Derby Day 2020: Due to the public health challenge of the coronavirus Covid-19, we have decided to cancel the onsite portion of our Kentucky Derby Day event at the Park Avenue Club on May 2.
 
Please join us in continuing to support Safe+Sound Somerset by making a donation to Friends of the Shelter in lieu of a Derby Day reservation, making a donation to the Camp Fund, and purchasing Luxury Raffle Tickets (via your response card and envelope mailed to you with your invitation, or through our Online Giving Center, or mail to: Friends of the Shelter, P.O. Box 23, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920).  The need for help for those affected by domestic violence unfortunately never stops, and troubled times like these actually increases the propensity toward violence.

Friends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer organization of women who share a commitment to assist women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Our service and fundraising efforts benefit Safe + Sound Somerset. 

The Friends of the Shelter is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Our two major fundraisers are the annual spring Derby Day Party and fall Author Luncheon. Since our founding in 1987, we've raised more than two million dollars to support victims of domestic violence in central New Jersey.

Individually, members of Friends of the Shelter also volunteer their time, helping to organize and support the Camp Fund, holiday events, special events, and more.
